welcome home!

Um, so..I moved! Despite some minor setbacks, I closed on the 17th and moved that same weekend. It’s been a really exciting, eye opening, and labor-intensive experience!!

I am really enjoying it. The best part may be that in unpacking, I don’t have to worry about making things easy to move again within the next year. I’m still not completely settled, but I’m getting there quickly and loving every minute.

So here are the pictures everyone’s been asking for. I forgot to take a shot of the kitchen, and the bathroom remodel is already underway, but here’s what I do have to show!

I took all of these pictures before I moved anything in (obviously), so it looks a lot different now. ..and I’m sure I’ll have a lot to update on in the future, but I just wanted to check in and flash some quick pictures!

Can you remember the last time you finished a project and said to yourself.. “holy shit! This is the most awesome thing I have ever made ever!!” ? I can. It was yesterday. Behold!!

It’s a laptop sleeve!! ..and I am pretty positive that this is the most well made sewing project I have completed to date. Observe how it fits my laptop with condom-like precision. Don’t you love that lovely leaf pattern?

Better yet, how about the (no I am not joking) DINOSAUR lining?!

Somehow, between all of the italics and exclamation points, I am sure you can find a way to understand how damn excited I am about this project! If you would like to make your very own, the pattern may be found here. You’ll bet I’m looking into other Sew, Mama, Sew! tutorials in the future. :oD

By the way, these shots were taken at Greyhouse, my new favorite coffee shop in town. They have paper straws. I am still in awe.  (..and, of course, the coffee is great.)

spindle spawn

Wahoo!! I finished a serious skein of yarn this week.

The blue is merino top and the red is..something. I don’t remember. Nor do I remember how much it weighs. I guess I should’ve kept that receipt! It’s about 113 yd of bulky, and it was destined to become a hat from the very beginning.

Though I wish I had the time/spinning mojo to do so, I’m not participating in the 2009 Tour de Fleece. It’s just a coincidence. :o) Actually, I’m completely out of spinning fiber now, which is kind of a bummer. Not that I don’t have a billion other projects to keep me occupied!

Here’s a scale shot I took before washing/twist setting:

Yesterday I finally made it to the LYS here, River Knits. It’s a great little shop..friendly people, good selection, and great location. I grabbed a couple skeins of Cascade 220 for this month’s afghan squares. (I’m doing an afghan square swap, by the way. Did I ever mention that?)
